I think the environment around us will always affect the way we learn. For example, sitting in a boring classroom that is filled with random posters, uncomfortable desks, sun in the way from the window and the teacher won't stop talking. That kind of environment eventually will affect the student's performance in school. They are not in the right environment.

Everyone learns differently around their environment. Personally, I like to be in a big room with cool designs and comfy desks with a cool temperature room. I like to think of the classroom I am in is a positive place. I also like to examine the room to find cool and unique things. It makes me feel like I am getting to know my new place where I will be learning and I need to feel comfortable with it. This is the kind of environment that helps me focus more and not feel lazy or too cold/hot to listen. I tend to learn better and faster if I feel comfortable and connected with the environment around me and my teacher. Many reports have shown that kids learn better in a positive room. My learning experience is based on the way the classroom environment is setup. If it's not the right place for me, it affects my education. But then again, there's always my room or the library.

Ravii, I liked your post, it was very interesting. I have to agree with you on that; I need a positive, warm place to learn or else I won't learn very well. I've noticed it when I have a fun class and a bad class, I tend to do better in the fun one, not cause its easier though. I personally think that more people should focus a decent amount about aesthetics of a room, not just the learning aspect of it. That being said, I don't think people should waste money on too much glimmer and glamour. All in all, I think that we should definitely pay more attention to a key element to help people learn.
ReplyDeleteTheodore, thank you. I'm glad I found someone that thinks the same way as I do about classrooms. I think it's a big impact on our learning. But teachers don't realize that.
DeleteRavii, I can agree with you that the environment around us affects our learning. If I am in a room that is to cold I tend not to listen as much because I am too cold to function. But also if the room is too warm I tend to want to fall asleep. I believe no matter how much school tries to change, student are bond to find some way to make an excuse to how it does not fit their needs. There are so many students in one school and each of them has their own opinions. For some people it may be hot, but for other it may be cold. So it can not fit everyone’s need that is why I believe schools have not changed much. Why do you think schools have not changed their set up?
ReplyDeleteMuhadasa, I agree with you on how students will find excuses no matter how much we change the school. I feel like due to so many opinions and needs, schools decide to keep it the way it is and let everyone get used to it. If you're too cold, wear a coat. If you're too hot, wear a t-shirt. I think that is why schools don't want to change much because they know not everyone will be satisfied.
